A gold ribbon day…

Such an exciting thing - to be selected by readers as one of their favourites.

Oh my! Wow! And… and….

This week I learned two of my books are finalists for awards with AusRomToday.

I spent the whole day doing … well, nothing of any use really – I was just so thrilled.

Flight to Coorah Creek is nominated as Book of The Year, and Bring Me Sunshine is nominated as Cover of the Year.

Any author who is honest will say award nominations are truly exciting…. and these are the very best type of awards – let me tell you why…

They are reader awards.

Praise from one’s peers – or from a panel of judges is great. Such a nomination tells me I am doing a good job.

But a reader’s nomination tells me I have touched my reader’s hearts. I have given them satisfaction – a good return for the money – and more importantly the time they have invested when they bought my book.

That’s no small thing to me. Readers are the most important part of this story telling process. Writing is a very solitary job – and knowing I have connected with my readers through my books is very important to me.

Thanks so much to the readers who voted for me – I love each and every one of you.

My name is on the nomination - but the credit is due to fab designer Berni Stevens - who gave me a cover with penguins on it.
