Fun or hard work? A bit of both.

I love writing retreats – it’s just fabulous to be able to focus entirely on my writing and ignore all the cares of the world.

Of course, the companionship of other writers and the advice of tutors helps too.

Then there is a lovely location and good food – even perhaps a glass of wine.

Why don’t you come with me?

I’ve been invited to be one of two tutors on a writing retreat in the beautiful Cotswolds. My fellow tutor is Alison May – she writes fun romantic comedies and Shakespeare adaptations. Between us, we cover quite a range of writing styles.

It’s a weekend residential course – running from Friday October 2nd to Sunday October 4th and it’s going to be at the beautiful Farncombe Estate.

We’ll spend some of the weekend in workshops – with discussions and exercises on plot and character development and point of view and dialogue. There’ll be plenty of time to write, and I anticipate late night writerly discussions after dinner (the food is fabulous at the estate).

Alison and I will also be doing one-on-one sessions with each author, including a critique of part of a work-in-progress submitted in advance.

It won’t all be work – there’ll be fun as well – because getting together with writers is fun – as well as inspirational.

I’m really looking forward to the weekend – and if you’d like to book a place on the course – there are more details here… (or click on the picture to the right of the screen).

I’d love to see you there.
