The Inspiration behind Sweet Memory

Romance is about more than falling in love. It’s about what follows. So many romance stories end with a proposal or a wedding, and give little or no thought to the years that follow.

When Choc Lit asked me for a story for their anthology, I wanted to connect it to Coorah Creek – the town where my new series of books is set. But I didn’t want to say too much and spoil the readers’ introduction to the town and it’s people in Flight To Coorah Creek – the first book in the series. So I decided to write about people for whom Coorah Creek was a memory.

About the same time, I was privileged to share a rather special event. The elderly mother of a friend of mine suffers from dementia. It’s a terrible thing to see someone lose so much. It was her birthday, and my friend invited me to join the celebration. It was so touching to see the love and gentleness that surrounded this woman, who had to be reminded several times that it was her birthday.

Memory, and the loss of it. Love and gentleness. These inspired the story that you’ll find in this anthology.
