Lion cubs<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

We went to the Bronx Zoo this weekend. There was still some snow on the ground – and it was pretty cold. It started snowing again soon after we arrived and I started to wonder if this was perhaps not the best day for a visit to the zoo.<\/p>\n

Then we spotted the lions.<\/p>\n

The cubs were playing in the snow.<\/p>\n

Dad wasn’t impressed.<\/p>\n

The cubs didn’t care about grumpy Dad or the snow.\u00a0They were out for whatever fun they could find.<\/p>\n

Encouraged – we went looking for the tiger cubs.\u00a0 We felt certain they’d like the snow. The tigers were tucked up warm inside their houses. There was a tree in their enclosure that was about to fall, and with the wind, it wasn’t safe for them.<\/p>\n

We were disappointed – but only until we reached the bear enclosure.<\/p>\n

They like sticks too.\u00a0<\/p>\n

And this was the very best-est stick ever.. \u00a0in the history of the world.<\/p>\n

We met a woman who was taking photographs of the animals.<\/p>\n

She knew them all by name.<\/p>\n

She told us what they were doing when she visited them last week.<\/p>\n

Suddenly I didn’t feel bad about being the only adults at the Zoo who weren’t there for their children.<\/p>\n

It snowed some more today – but I’ve got a new friend who I’m certain is not at all sad to see the snow.<\/p>\n
