We were planning to take friends from the UK to dinner, before going to the Top of The Rock.<\/p>\n<p>We saw a new restaurant \u2013 and wandered over \u2013 intrigued by the fact that there were people eating there, despite the signs that said the restaurant was going to open the NEXT week.<\/p>\n<p>It was, the hostess told us, a training day for their staff \u2013 and if we were willing to let them practice on us, they would serve us a free lunch.<\/p>\n<p>What was the catch, we asked?<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The catch was that we would not be allowed to complain \u2013 and they might interrupt the service to correct something a staffer had done wrong, or to ask our opinions.<\/p>\n<p>Oh \u2013 and we had no control over the dishes we were served \u2013 we had to select our meal by drawing a ticket out of a box.<\/p>\n<p>That didn&#8217;t sound too difficult.. so in we went.<\/p>\n<p>Our meal included mussels, tuna steaks and a lovely salad\u2026 followed by apple strudel. There was drink taken as well \u2013 they were trying out some new cocktails.<\/p>\n<p>They did give us a bill \u2013 part of the training for their staff \u2013 but we didn\u2019t have to pay it (which was a good thing as it was over $100 ).<\/p>\n<p>So \u2013we got a fabulous lunch for free \u2013 thank you Del Frisco&#8217;s Grille.
