Wow \u2013 what a week it\u2019s been.<\/p>\n

Along with some fellow authors from Choc Lit, I\u2019ve been in New Orleans for the Romantic Times Booklovers convention.<\/p>\n

Something in the vicinity of 3,000 readers and authors and librarians and booksellers all in party mode \u2013 sorry, I meant to say all working very hard.<\/p>\n

On arrival at the hotel and convention centre \u2013 it wasn\u2019t hard to figure out there was something afoot\u2026<\/p>\n

The most interesting hotel room key I have ever had.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

But just in case I wasn\u2019t looking at the room key\u2026.<\/p>\n

Just getting into the elevator was an experience<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

But it wasn\u2019t all about a handsome hero.<\/p>\n

There were talks and workshops and author signings\u2026\u00a0 I led a workshop on interview techniques for radio and television.<\/p>\n

Thanks to everyone who joined in to make the workshop such fun.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Choc Lit treated our US friends to an English High tea \u2013 which was a lot of fun \u2013 but we were so busy I forgot to take any photos.<\/p>\n

Of course – the event is all about books – and books there were – by the thousands. A lot of them free.\u00a0Which brings me to swag – the freebies that everyone collected… There were books and pens and notepads and chocolates — did I mention the books. Because I had to think about luggage for the flight home, I was restrained – but\u00a0there were some who\u00a0brought empty suitcases which they will take home full of books.<\/p>\n

You may notice there are no chocolates in the photo – yes, I ate them.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

There were also goodies that were not free – although equally as irresistible as the books.<\/p>\n

Because every romance author needs a velvet beaded evening top with tassels.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Back to the books – and even more importantly – the readers, because that was what made the whole event such fun for me. There’s nothing an author likes more than to hear those four magic words – “I love your books.” That’s why we do this.<\/p>\n

With the lovely Chanpreet Singh \u2013 who brought copies of all my books with her to New Orleans so I could sign them.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

It was an exciting experience to be here for the convention \u2013 next year it\u2019s in Dallas Texas \u2013 and being somewhat fond of cowboys, I may just wander over this side of the pond again\u2026<\/p>\n

I think someone in the name tag department got me confused with US President Grover Cleveland<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Despite how busy I was at the convention – there was some time to explore New Orleans…\u00a0 which really does live up to its reputation.<\/p>\n
