I think the glowing ON-AIR light is the same everywhere in the world.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

I stepped back in time a little this week \u2013 back to my days as a journalist when I was doing radio news reports. But this time \u2013 I was on the other side of the microphone.<\/p>\n

Some of my writer chums and I went over to Radio Marlow FM to talk about writing romantic fiction \u2013 as a precursor to next Sunday \u2013 which I don\u2019t have to tell anyone is Valentines Day.<\/p>\n

It was great to spend the whole show talking about writing. Thank you Vanessa and Chrissie and Clare \u2013 who were so welcoming and got us thinking and talking about what we do.<\/p>\n

I was thinking afterwards how little has changed \u2013 and how much has changed about radio.<\/p>\n

When TV was first becoming popular \u2013 \u2018they\u2019 (whoever \u2018they\u2019 are) said radio would die. But it didn\u2019t. All these years later it\u2019s still with us and still relevant.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s still a wonderful place to talk in depth about some interesting topic. A place of new ideas, and humour. It somehow seems more real than a lot of Television \u2013 it\u2019s not rehearsed or scripted. There\u2019s no makeup or costume to hide behind. There we were \u2013 just us \u2013 being ourselves.<\/p>\n

We had a lot of fun \u2013 I hope the listeners did too.<\/p>\n

And the day has made me think more about radio\u2013 I should definitely listen to it more often. Time to unplug my MP3 player from the car stereo and hit the FM button instead.<\/p>\n
