I\u2019ve spent the past couple of weeks looked away in my editing cave\u2026 putting final touches on the next book before it goes out into the world.<\/p>\n

Editing is both a technical and emotional process\u2026. Here\u2019s the emotional\u2026<\/p>\n

\"I
I feel like I’m going into hibernation – into a tiny dark space (OK – I have a light) where I cut myself off from the world for what seems forever.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

<\/p>\n

There’s a fair bit of stress involved – the book might be terrible.<\/p>\n

There might be a deadline just out there … oh dear!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

It’s dangerous to disturb a\u00a0sleeping\u00a0puma\u00a0– or an editing author.<\/p>\n

\"I
I do growl – unless a cup of tea is pushed through the door first.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

There is so much to do…<\/p>\n

And all that work requires intense concentration.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

But it does feel very good once it’s all over and I can relax.<\/p>\n

Most post-book meltdown usually involves curling up in the sun with a book, and vowing never to go near a computer again… until the next time.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
