Writing can be a lonely job.
We spend most of our time chained to a computer, or a notebook, talking to people who exist only in our own heads.
It has been said that the only person who really understands a writer is another writer.
That may or may not be true, but there’s no doubt that friendships between writers are very important – and rather special.
Yesterday the London Chapter of the Romantic Novelists association held its Christmas lunch… and I was reminded so forcefully why my writer friends are so important to me.

It may be a tad early, but I’m sending seasons greetings to writers everywhere – to my friends, acquaintances and all those I have never met. Love books. Love writing. Love writers.

I must make the effort again…
Yes do, Lesley. It’s always fun and it would be great to have you there.
Great photos, Janet, and you’re so right about the writing support network. I think I’d go mad without it (well, madder…)
Hx
You and me both, Henri. X
Such a brilliant day and I can’t help but feel blessed by having so many good friends amongst you all.
Hear Hear!! (Or should it be here here???)
I’m jealous but so glad you had a great time! 🙂
Thanks Chanpreet. I always love getting together with other writers – and readers too. People who love books are always interesting.
Looks like a brilliant day. Green with envy not to have been there x 🙂
You would have enjoyed it Jude – next time.
Lovely to see so many familiar faces, Janet. We have a great RNA Chapter here in Leicester and as you say, it’s wonderful to meet up with other writers. to be able to share time with people who really understand us is a rare and valuable experience.
Brilliant website by the way. xx
The RNA is such a fabulous organisation Margaret. Joining was one of the best things I could have done.
Glad you like the website. Thanks.
