Get 2016 off to a great start

So, it’s the start of a new year and a time for all sorts of resolutions that probably won’t get kept (especially those involving eating better, wasting less time on Facebook and doing my income tax in a timely fashion).

However, there are resolutions that I am serious about keeping, and those are the ones connected to books – both reading and writing. I resolve to read more new authors this year because there are so many great books I want to explore. And I resolve to write better books.

If you have resolutions regarding your writing, I’m thrilled to unveil details of two great writing retreats I’ll be leading this year with the brilliant Alison May.

To make sure you’ll be inspired, we are inviting you to join us in the heart of Shakespeare country – Stratford Upon Avon.

Spring, they say, is a time for renewal, so what better time to get our writing renewed. From May 6 to May 8 we’ll be at the lovely Ettington Chase Hotel (Yes, it does have a spa and pool). The course is Developing Your Novel – designed to help kick start that book you have been thinking about, or get one already underway back on track.

The 2015 retreat - hard work and lots of friendly support.

It’s a pretty intensive course, dealing with things like plot and character development and some technical guidelines to keep you on track. It’s a lot of fun too with lots of late night conversations about books and writing. What could be better?

The answer to that question is, I guess, a second retreat in the Autumn.

In the advanced course, we look at getting your book out there – advanced editing, how publishing works, creating and developing your brand and pushing your work out the door into the real world. That’s in the same hotel from September 30 to October 2nd.

You can find out more about both retreats here.

So – back to New Year and resolutions…

Mine include: enjoy launching my two new books into the world (perhaps I should add finish writing the second one) and spending more time with writers at all stages of their careers, because they are the best and most inspiring people in the world. I should also resolve to do my tax in better time, but what the heck, I know I won’t keep that one.  🙂
