The RWA Literacy Signing
The RWA Literacy Signing

This week is the RWA conference here in NYC.

The fun started today with the Literacy signing event.

This is what 500 romance writers look like raising funds to promote literacy.

The books were all donated by the publishers – the authors donated their time a good will – and writing hands.

Something over 2,000 people showed up – they queued outside the conference centre to get in.

That’s a lot of books to sign – and a lot of money raised for charity.

The series business starts tomorrow.

I am jealous! I am really jealous! I wanted to be there and couldn’t quite make it happen. Janet, did you sign?

Not this time Sue – it was mostly US publishers. With luck – maybe next year.

I am GREEN with envy – it looks fantastic! I look forward to hearing about it when you’re next in England.

    Have a terrific time.

Gosh, makes me get panic flutters just to look at it. Do you take oxygen supplies in with you?

It was a bit overwhelming – but everyone was far too nice and having far too great a time to panic. Harlequin has given every attendee a soft sided water bottle to clip to their conference bag – now that was a good idea!

Oh my, I’ll bet the decibel level was high. Enjoy!

The decibel level was only matched by the energy level. It’s going to be an exhausting few days – but it should also be pretty fab!

So great meeting you! Loved the chance to get to know you and our conversation over dinner felt like the tip of the iceberg when it comes to chatter:)…looking forward to more visiting on Friday. See you soon.

      Hi Denny,
Glad we had some time to chat – and yes indeed, I do image there is a lot more to come!!! Janet X

Looks like the one at RT! Imagine being stuck in there, constantly smiling, and not being able to leave! That’s what it’s like to sign. It’s fun, sure, but it’s absolutely exhausting, which is why I think it’s better left to the last day. The RT one is usually 4 hours.
I’d love to go to RWA too, but July in New York put me off a bit, and RT was so expensive this year, too.
    Miss you, Janet!

      Hi Lynne,
It was exhausting – but inspiring as well. Writers are such a wonderful bunch of people.
I really miss all my RNA chums that side of the pond. I am so excited about catching up with everyone next week.
