I always try to keep my promises.
Back in May when I told you about my next novel Flight To Coorah Creek, I said there might be a small treat in store for you before its publication.
Well, the book is out in March – but you get that small treat now.
It’s a short story called Sweet Memory – which is your first glimpse into the world of Coorah Creek.
When I first envisioned this small town, a phrase lodged itself in my head… It takes a special kind of person to live on the banks of Coorah Creek.
When I write my Coorah Creek stories, I try to make the people in those stories live up to this…
In Sweet Memory, I have a couple who are so very special. Their love story made me cry as I wrote it during a long flight. I think the flight attendants were worried about me.
The story is part of the Love Match Anthology, published by Choc Lit. It contains stories by lots of the Choc Lit authors – many of them award winners – not to mention good friends. It’s a great way to meet some new writers.
There’s a bonus too – each writer has included a recipe – involving chocolate of course – that has some resonance to their story.
My recipe is for Chocolate Barbecue Bananas.
Before including the recipe in the book, I had to take it for a test drive to make sure it was really really good. It was. Then I was left with all this wonderful warm sweet sticky gooey chocolatey marshmallowy mess – and it would have been wasteful not to eat it. Right?

Oh yum! I can’t wait to try your recipe, Janet. And I can’t wait to read another story from Coorah Creek either!
xx
Thanks Berni. I read your story on the train yesterday – really like your vision of angels. Enjoyed the story – but I think the recipe is beyond me – can’t bake for nuts!
I found your story moving, Janet. Beautifully told. x
Thanks Laura. Glad you enjoyed it.
Oh, I love bbq bananas. You’ve almost tempted me to head outside and start making fire. It looks very much like it’s about to absolutely pour down though, so I won’t, but you know, I could.
You are also absolutely right about fruit meaning there are no calories. I tell myself that regularly, as I hide a bowl of raspberries under ice cream and chocolate sauce. It’s fine because there is fruit in it 😉
You know you can do them under the grill too – inside – even when it’s raining! J X
I can’t wait to receive the updated Choc Lit Anthology, Janet, and to read your short story. I suspect it’ll be fabulous!

Its nice to share an anthology with you Liz.
Lovely story, Janet, I just finished reading the anthology at the weekend and there are so many great stories. Looking at your wicked picture is making me crave chocolate immediately!
Thanks Angela. I am trying to not remember that I have both marshmallows and bananas in the house… all I need is chocolate. No… No… Don’t tempt me.
